B-12 research overview

This is cyanocobalamin, a stable synthetic form of vitamin B-12, supplied as a 1mg/mL solution in a 10mL multi-use vial.

B-12 functions as a cofactor for two enzymes, and both are of research interest. Methionine synthase requires methylcobalamin to convert homocysteine to methionine, linking B-12 status to one-carbon metabolism and to the methyl donor pool used across the cell for DNA and histone methylation. Methylmalonyl-CoA mutase requires adenosylcobalamin and sits in the pathway handling odd-chain fatty acids and certain amino acids. Deficiency models can be characterised by accumulation of the substrates upstream of either enzyme, and methylmalonic acid in particular is used as a functional marker in the literature.

The cyanocobalamin form is chosen for preparations like this one because it is markedly more stable in solution than the methylated or adenosylated forms, though cells must convert it before use. It remains light-sensitive: the vial is supplied for storage at room temperature but should be protected from light, and the characteristic red colour fading is a visible indication of degradation. It is grouped with glutathione under research-grade vitamin and antioxidant preparations. This is a research-grade material, not a nutritional or dietary product, and is not supplied for human or veterinary use.

Questions about this listing

What form does B-12 come in?

Injectable Solution (multi-use vial) The size options listed on this page — 1mg / 10mL — are what is available, and the vial labelling shown in the product images above is the reference for what a vial contains.

How should B-12 be stored?

Room temperature, protect from light. Storage requirements differ across the catalog — some listings are refrigerated, others held at -20°C, others at room temperature — so read this row rather than assuming from a neighbouring product.

What does the 99% figure on this listing mean?

It is the purity reported for this material. It is a reported value rather than one Savage Labs has independently verified for the lot you receive, and it does not describe net peptide content. How peptide purity is reported and net peptide content cover what the number does and does not tell you.

What documentation is available for B-12?

Batch-specific certificates of analysis and test methods on request. Confirm that any report matches the lot you intend to order — reading a peptide certificate of analysis covers which field answers which question. Ask about documentation for this listing, or see the full FAQ for ordering, shipping and returns.

What else is grouped with B-12?

It is catalogued under Vitamins & Wellness, where the category page describes what separates the compounds in the group.

Ordering, payment, shipping and returns are answered on the full FAQ.
